Martin brings to the team his expertise in tree-climbing. He began climbing trees professionally in 1997, and has worked within the field of arboriculture in Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and NSW. As well as work performed on hazardous trees, he has been active in removal of introduced and invasive species, and in seed collection in tall forestry species.

His passion for wildlife and ecology saw him complete his Bachelor of Environmental Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2006.

The skills he developed as an arborist have transferred naturally to the fields of ecology and wildlife management, particularly koala capture. Martin has participated in more than 1000 koala captures thus far, many of these in challenging conditions in blue gum plantations. He also uses his arboreal skills to set up nest boxes, camera traps and to collect seed, leaf and plant tissue from tree canopies.
